Location

The
garden city of India, Bangalore is located in the southern part of the state
of Karnataka. Its is around 998km from Mumbai and 562km from Hyderabad.
The City Bangalore
Bangalore is the capital city of the state of Karnataka and the seventh
largest city of India. The city has numerous beautiful gardens and so called
the Garden City of India. In present day, Bangalore has the most number of
IT industries in India and so known as the silicon valley of India. The
ancient city was founded in 16th century by a local chieftain Kempe Gowda.
During 18th century under the rule of Tipu Sultan it gained prominence, who
made it his summer capital. Its magnificent palaces, beautiful gardens and
various government buildings are the major attractions of the city. In 1831,
it came under the British rule who made it the regional administrative
centre.
Climate
The city has a moderate and pleasant climate throughout the year. The
maximum temperature during summers(April-June) is around 38 degrees C and
the winters(October-February) minimum temperature is around 12 degrees C.
The city experiences a good amount of rainfall of during the month of June
to August. Though the weather of Bangalore is pleasant throughout the year
but it is best visited during winters.
Sightseeing
Bangalore has numerous historical sites, gardens and other tourist places
which are worth visiting.
» Vidhan Soudha - This is a magnificent granite
building built in 1984 and now houses a number of government offices
including the State Secretariat and the State Legislature.

Cubbon Park - Located in the heart of the city this beautiful park is
spread over an area of 300 acre. This was built by Lieutenant General Sir
Mark Cubbon in 1864. It has a public library, a museum and a playground for
children.
» Government Museum - It was established in the year
1896 and has a rich collection of ancient weapons, stone carvings, pottery
and paintings.
» Ulsoor Lake - Located on the northeastern part of
the city, this picturesque lake offers boating facilities and a popular
hangout spot.
Other Attractions
Other major attractions of the city are the Summer Palace of Tipu Sultan,
Lal Bagh Garden, the ISKON temple, Bull Temple, Jumma Masjid etc.
Shopping
The city can be called as a shoppers paradise from where one can buy
everything from clothes, jewellery to handicrafts. There are several state
and private owned emporiums situated in Brigade Road, K.G Road, M.G Road,
famous for silk sarees and handicraft products made of sandalwood and
rosewood.
Fairs and Festivals
The city of Bangalore celebrates all the popular Indian festivals with
traditional flavour. It also has some regional festivals like the Karga
Festival, Kadalekaye Parishe, Pongal or Makara Sankranthi and the
Varamahalakshmi.
